Emily Baron is a 19-year-old singer-songwriter based on the Wirral. She partook in our New Noise scheme at age 16, curating her unique grunge/folk/rock/indie sound. Since graduating from the program, Emily has won a “Rising Star” competition and performed at our Future Now festival. She has even played London’s iconic Electric Ballroom, supporting the acclaimed Turin Brakes for the second time. As her artistic reputation continues to grow, we sat down with Emily to learn more about how New Noise and Future Yard helped build her future.

Come and see Emily play at our 48HR PARTY PEOPLE event THIS Saturday at 2pm!

Tell me a little bit about your time within New Noise. When did you start? Do you have any particular highlights?

“I started New Noise in September 2022, I was 16 then and had this dream of pursuing music as a career. Particular highlights include the time I sang one of my first original songs to a crowd of likeminded people; it was special because it was my idea and people were really listening.”

“It was a great environment for me to develop my musical skills, working with different musicians and attending different workshops, really helped strengthen my musical ability.”

How would you describe the FY environment, both regarding New Noise and generally?

“The Future Yard environment is a positive, encouraging, supportive and extremely inclusive place, no matter what your skill level is. In general it is a brilliant space where you are able to let your creativity flow freely and to experience other artists doing the same.”

What excites you about FY’s new build?

“With its increased capacity, it will attract bigger artists, it will provide more jobs for the local community and bring revenue into the area. The expansion will allow more opportunities for young and upcoming artists, to showcase their talents to a wider audience.”

Finally, what does music mean to you?

“Music means everything, it gives me purpose and motivates me in my everyday life. It has allowed me to grow as a person and express myself, in ways I wouldn’t have imagined before.”
